"Consignment shop" is a term for a second-hand store that offers used goods at a lower cost than new, tho new items may be offered as well. In the context of sale, it is usually understood that the consignee (the seller) pays the consignor (the person who owns the item) a portion of the proceeds from the sale. Payment is not made until and unless the item actually sells.  IF the item does not sell, you owe the tack shop nothing!

As of 1/1/2011, our consignment fees are 30% on items priced under $500 and 25% on items priced $500 and over.  (These fees are for new accounts only.)  Other considerations can be made for non-profit groups.

Checks are mailed out on the 5th of each month for sales in the preceding month.  On some larger dollar amount sales such as saddles, checks can be requested earlier.

We do ask that all items to be sold on consignment be in good, usable condition and clean.  However, we can clean items for you for a fee.  Consignment items should be listed on paper or on an excel file with items listed individually or as a group (i.e., brushes - 3 total, split reins - 2 total) with a description (brand, size & age are always helpful) and a price per each.  The consignment fee will be added to that price.  If I feel your price is too low, I will adjust it accordingly as the more you get for your item, the more the shop makes, too.  If an item remains unsold for a long period of time, we will re-evaluate the pricing on that item or you may want to remove it from consignment.  (All items remain in the shop for a minimum of 60 days.)  Our goal is to sell the consignment items so we must be realistic on our pricing, regardless of what it cost originally.

Since we do offer layaway, some items may be tied up for an additional 60 days until that item is paid in full.   Items on layaway can not be removed from the store by the consignor.

Internet sales are common with some items being shipped but those fees are paid for by the buyer and does not affect any monies due the consignor.
